Retaining Wall St. Louis repairs and builds retaining walls in St. Louis, Missouri, and across the City of St. Louis and St. Louis, St. Charles and Jefferson counties. That covers block, boulder, limestone and poured concrete walls, plus the drainage, grading and excavation around them. We do not do lawn care or general landscaping.
The uplands here are capped with loess, a windblown silt that stands up well when it's dry and slumps when it's wet. Under the loess is clay, then limestone, in karst country where sinkholes are mapped across the region. Add around 40 inches of rain a year, most of it in hard spring and summer storms, plus winters that freeze and thaw over and over. A wall here has to be built with all of that in mind.
We walk the site, look at where the water goes and write up what we would do: wall type, height and length, base, reinforcement, drainage and outlet, and the cleanup. You approve that scope before anything changes. If a repair will do, the estimate says so.
We don't put a warranty number in an ad. What we stand behind depends on the wall, the soil and how much drainage we are allowed to install, so the terms go on your written estimate. Block and engineered systems carry their own manufacturer coverage, and we will tell you what applies to the product we use.
Crushed clean stone behind the wall, not dirt. Fabric between that stone and the native silt so fines can't wash in and clog it. Perforated pipe that daylights somewhere you can see. Geogrid cut to the length the height and slope call for. None of it shows when the wall is finished, and it's where most failed walls were shortchanged.
